Graphics

Optimising Graphics Article.

Do you want to achieve a Internet friendly page?

If you want your web page to be more Internet friendly, then perhaps the best way is to reduce the size of your graphics. A well optimised page will help you in at least three respects:

Bandwidth-friendly
Server-friendly
Reader-friendly

It is relatively easy to reduce the size of graphic files by at least 50% without affecting the image quality, although this does depend on the image in question and the techniques used.

The vast majority of images graphics  on the web come in two styles, JPEG and GIF. Both of these formats are self-compressing and platform independent. This makes them ideal for exchanging images between Web clients and servers.

Different people have different opinions about which is the better graphics style .When it comes to selecting a file format for graphics there is no easy answer that will be correct 100% of the time. The only way to select the correct style graphics is experimentation. Try the image in both formats and select the one that provides the smallest image without significantly compromising image quality.
