Illustrator is a prerequisite for most any job in graphic arts. Illustrator has
the smoothest pen tool of any drawing program and its onscreen antialiasing is
unsurpassed. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop® and InDesign® have a common user
interface and are well integrated graphics applications.

Visual
communication has been an integral part of graphic design since its inception
in the 1920s.
Today, most of those friendly little graphics and icons that give order and
humanity to the world around us are created digitally, using powerful software applications
such as Adobe Illustrator.
In this hands-on introductory class, you'll learn the tricks of the trade for
creating illustrations that intrigue and delight. The course provides a workout
in those Illustrator tools (pentool, Bezier curves, gradients) that are
critical for such designs, while retaining a focus on the principles of
effective illustration.

who illustrates!"
Note: Basic familiarity with Illustrator is helpful but not required for

I've always
been interested in how things really work below the surface. And, not just in
mechanical things but, human enterprise, as well. In some ways, other animals
are more clever than humans. By not living in the fog of language, some
canines, for example, can instantly recognize someone's disposition or
intention. Whereas we humans would do well to not only take time contemplating
what we are told, or read. We too should examine what we're actually seeing.
I don't mean that language is inherently deceptive illustrator illustration. Of course it can be complicated and infinitely
subtle, beautiful. But sometimes with, even exciting, misunderstandings.
Pictures usually help. Illustration can expose subtleties that can be
impractical, or even numbing as a task for text - albeit important for truer
understanding. To give more than just window dressing, there is a
responsibility here for the artist.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth.
Mark Danielson takes architectural inspiration from
Better Homes and Gardens and Art and Architecture from the’50s and ’60s. He incorporates the domesticated modernism that epitomized these
publications into his acrylic paintings. The flat paint mimics the
architectural illustrations, documenting the shallow sloped roofs of ranch
